Japan (Sep 2017)

Yup, will be going on a solo trip to Japan (again) in Sep 2017.

Already booked my air tickets, but yet to sort out accommodations.
This is probably going to be a very budget trip.

  1. Hi Sam
Noticed you are a frequent flyer to Japan and probably have a feel of the best time to grab the airticket. Could you advise When/which airline/est price best to seek after? Planning for a Dec Tokyo/Osaka.

    1. i usually check for airfare promo rates every couple of weeks. Since Dec is kinda a peak travel period, so I guess it is more difficult to find promo airfares for Dec's flights. Since my husband and I love cold weather (to escape from Singapore's hot weather), so we usually visit Japan in Jan/Feb since there's less crowd, more snow, and cheaper airfares.
SQ's promo rates are usually around SGD600-700+ for return flight from Singapore to Tokyo.
If you dun mind having transit at somewhere along the way, then I've taken Thai Airways and Cathay pacific during their promo period too.

  2. Hi Sam,

My wife and I will also be travelling to Tokyo and Osaka from 3rd of Sep, with a Hakone trip in between. We have 4 days in Tokyo and 2 days in Osaka. What would you recommend that we visit for Tokyo and Osaka? Any wonderful restaurants that you could recommend?

This will be our first visit to Japan.

    Thanks,
    Rog

  3. hi sam

i like your blog. very informative. 😀

me, my husband and my teen boy plan for a snow trip near tokyo (2nights) in beginning of jan. it will be first time for my son to see the snow. we want to learn skiing and other snowy activity, and also enjoy the scenery, we want to stay in a budget value ryokan with private facilities, where easy to reach places to eat and also train/gondola station. we’re not sure if better to visit niigata or nagano perfecture, and which area is best to stay. with the short trip i think it’s best not to be too adventurous on the spot and have important things ready waiting for you, like where to rent snow equipment, access of transportation (easy to arrange) etc

would be nice to get your advise. thanks a lot
