(Japan Sep 2018) Day 1: Singapore to Tokyo.

Day 1 (15 Sep 2018) : Singapore to Tokyo.  Stay at Tokyo.

Sorry for my long absence.  Kept procrastinating the update of my travel blog.
Woke up today and felt that it's probably finally time for me to do something about it.

I actually have a few more Japan trips in 2017 that I have yet to blog about.
But I decided that I should probably skip those for now, and start posting about my recent Sep 2018's Japan trip instead.

For this trip, it was supposed to be a budget 2 weeks' trip with my friend Sandy.

But, the first week of the trip was soooo hot (felt like the weather in Singapore, just slightly chiller in the nights after the sun sets), and the second week of the trip was a mixture of too hot/too cold/too rainy....and so we spent most of the trip inside Shopping malls.
And thus, our so-called "budget trip" went out of the window.

Out of the entire trip, there was like 2 days that felt like Winter, and the other days felt like Summer.  What happened to Autumn?!

For our flight from Singapore to Tokyo Narita, we took an early morning ANA flight.
Can't remember much of this flight since I spent most of my time sleeping.

My in-flight breakfast. Chicken porridge I think.

My friend's choice, Omelette.
The first thing we did after we cleared the immigrations and collected our luggage at Narita Airport, was to go look for the Post Office to pick up our Data-only SIM card that we ordered online from B-mobile.
I usually arrange to have it mailed to the first hotel where I will be staying for the trip, but since this time, we will be staying at a capsule hotel instead of a normal regular hotel, so I thought it would be better if I picked it up myself from the airport instead.

Our original plan was to take the bus from Narita Airport to Tokyo station that only costs 1000yen.
But by the time we found the bus stop for it, the queue was already soooo long and therefore we decided on taking the train instead.
Although the Ltd Exp Narita Express train would be the most convenient option for us since it has a stop at Shinjuku station, but it is more expensive than the Keisei Skyliner.
So we went with the Keisei Skyliner train from Narita Airport to Nippori station, and then transferred to the JR Yamanote Loop line to reach Shinjuku station.

Keisei Skyliner

Both of us were famished, so we stopped by a convenience store at the airport before going to catch the Keisei Skyliner.
I bought a onigiri (rice ball) and iced-cocoa from the convenience store before catching the train.

Upon arriving at Shinjuku, we went to the capsule hotel where we will be staying for the first 2 nights of this trip to deposit our luggage before heading out again to Ikebukuro.

We spent some time shopping at the Disney Store and Pokemon shop inside Sunshine City at Ikebukuro before meeting up with my cousin (whom is staying at Tokyo).

Halloween stuffs everywhere.

Time for dinner, and I chose 1 of my fav food chains in Japan, which is Ten-ya.
Ten-ya has many outlets in Japan, and they specialises in inexpensive Tempura with rice.
For example, this bowl of tempura prawn + squid + lotus root + veg costs me less than 500yen.
My dinner.

Our dinner.  Sandy ordered veg Tempura with rice.

After returning back to Shinjuku, we came across this UFO catcher at the amusement arcade.
My friend Sandy is a huge Tigger fan, and she really REALLY wanted this Tigger.
But since this is the first time both of us ever tried playing this kind of machine, so we didn't managed to get it this time.

Shinjuku
We went to the convenience store near our capsule hotel, to buy my fav Iced Cocoa and Tori Karaage (fried chicken) back to the hotel for supper.
