Japan (Nov2011) Day 5: Kurashiki (Okayama) to Shin-Osaka
The overnight train (Sunrise Seto) which I took the night before at Tokyo arrived at Okayama around 6:30am. I then deposited my luggage at a coin locker at Okayama station before taking a short Shinkansen ride to Fukuyama to look for my cousin, who happens to be also travelling in Japan. We decided to spend the day at Kurashiki in Okayama.

After arriving Kurashiki, we headed for the canal area. However, we somehow got ourselves lost in the shopping district...heh.
...still lost...

Since we are still lost, we might as well have some softserve while we walk. |

Waving goodbye to my cousin, who's continuing her journey to Shin-Yokohama whereas I alighted at Shin-Osaka. From this point onwards, I'll be alone for the rest of my trip. |
At Shin-Osaka, I stayed at Chisun Inn Shin-Osaka hotel. It was sooo difficult to located that hotel and I had to carry my luggage up (and down) an overhead bridge!! Took me 2 days to find a route between hotel to Shin-Osaka station that involves escalators and not climbing stairs. No mini-fridge in the room as well. Sigh...

Hi! I came across your blog when seeking whether or not to visit Kurashiki or Kinosaki Onsen - looking at pics online, scenery appears very similar - is this right? I only have one day where I'm deciding a day trip from Osaka and I can't decide between Kurashiki or Kinosaki Onsen - was there one you preferred a little more over the other?

ReplyDeleteIf you have only 1 day, then visit Kurashiki.
DeleteBut if you have time to stay overnight, then go Kinosaki onsen.
The train journey between Osaka and Kinosaki onsen is really long (about 3hrs if I remembered correctly) so it doesn't make much sense to spend a total of 6hrs train in 1 day (2 way journey) for a day visit to Kinosaki onsen.
